Richard Andrews, Founder and Chairman of Healios, joins NHS England’s Digital Innovation and Adoption in Psychological Therapies Expert Reference Group.
Andrews has deep knowledge and experience of healthcare environments, gained from various executive roles at some of the world’s largest blue chip healthcare organisations, in several countries across Europe and the US. He founded Healios to transform how care is delivered, working with numerous NHS Trusts to integrate digital solutions across mental health services, to drive for better access to evidence-based psychological interventions.
“I’m excited at the opportunity to provide insight and to share our experience of delivering high impact psychological therapies via digital, while learning from other experts,” said Andrews. “This is about shaping the healthcare landscape to ensure that digital is put at the forefront of treatment pathways. Maximising digital innovations is critical for the NHS to achieve greater accessibility, increased cost efficiencies, improved quality and a 24/7 service – all of which provide families with a better quality of life.”
The Digital Innovation and Adoption in Psychological Therapies Expert Reference Group (D-IAPT ERG) will co-ordinate the developing expertise and knowledge in this field, publish and disseminate best practice from commissioning to clinical practice, and collaborate with others through the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme board. The D-IAPT ERG will ensure that the wider system capabilities enable digital adoption and innovation across England as part of strategy outlined in NHS England’s Mental Health Five Year Forward View.
